How to merge PDF files without sending them to a server
When merging is the right job
Merge when the pages are already correct and you only need them in one PDF, in an order you can check. A two-page report followed by a one-page appendix is the sample on this page: put the appendix after the report and the export should be three pages in that order. The same pattern fits a signed form plus a scan, several handouts for one class, or a cover letter in front of a portfolio. It is the wrong job when a sentence is still wrong. This tool does not open the text for editing. It copies the pages you keep. Fix the sentence in the program that made the PDF, export again, then come back and merge.
You can add more than one PDF, drop a page you do not want, and drag the rest into order. The preview is there so the order is a decision you see, not a guess. Merging keeps the selected pages as they are. It does not rewrite fonts and it does not recompress images, so the export can be larger than either source file. That is expected. If the goal is a smaller file, merge first and then use compress on the result, knowing that compress redraws pages as JPEG. Read the merge guide if you want the checklist before you touch a private file.
Passwords, memory, and the file you keep
Unlock a password-protected PDF before you add it. The studio cannot merge a file it is not allowed to open. Very large PDFs depend on the memory of this tab. If the browser cannot hold the pages, the job stops with an error and no download. That is safer than a partial file that looks finished. Work on a copy if the original lives in a mail attachment you cannot replace. NexTool does not keep the PDFs you add and does not keep the merged result. The download is the only copy the page will give you.
After export, open the PDF and check three things: the page count, the order of the first and last page, and one sentence in the middle of each source so you know the right file was included. If a page looks rotated or missing, fix the order in the preview and export again. Do not email the result until that check is done. The sample files on this page are a two-page report and a one-page appendix. They are public fixtures for practice. They are not uploaded anywhere when you download them, and your own files follow the same local rule.
Order of work
Name the files before you add them, so the thumbnails are not three copies of “scan.pdf”. Add the report first and the appendix second if that is the story, then look at the filmstrip rather than trusting the add order. Remove a blank page you do not want in the packet. Rotate a sideways scan in the preview if the tool offers that control, and export only after the rotation is visible. If one source is a photo you still need to crop, do that in the image studio and build a PDF from images, instead of merging a sloppy picture into a text report and hoping the reader will ignore the margins.
