Privacy policy
Who this policy covers
This policy describes nextool.org, the NexTool website. NexTool is an independent site. It is not a file host. The operator can be reached at ads@nextool.org. The policy explains what the site itself does with a browser, what stays on your device, and what third parties do when advertising or an optional AI provider is involved. It is written for people who use the tools. It is not a promise that every future feature will behave the same way. If a tool page contradicts this policy about where a file goes, believe the more specific page and write to the contact address so the contradiction can be fixed.
Most file tools process the file in your browser. Choosing a PDF, a Word file, a spreadsheet, or an image does not upload that file to a NexTool server. The site does not offer an account, and it does not keep a library of your documents. Exported files exist in the tab until you download them or close the page. You should keep your own copies. This local processing is the default for PDF merge, split, compress, and redact, for Word compare, merge, and PDF export, for Excel comparison and CSV or PDF export, and for image crop and compress.
Cookies and Google advertising
When advertising is enabled, NexTool shows ads from Google AdSense. Google is a third-party advertising vendor. Google and its partners may use cookies, mobile advertising identifiers, or similar technologies to serve ads, to measure them, and to personalize them based on your visits to this site and other sites. NexTool does not operate Google’s ad servers and does not receive the contents of the files you process in order to choose an ad. The ad script is loaded from Google’s domains. A page can show an advertisement only after its content is on screen. Empty error pages and the loading state are not places where an ad unit is mounted.
You can opt out of personalized ads. Open Google’s ad settings at https://adssettings.google.com and turn off ad personalization for the Google account you use, or adjust the controls shown for a signed-out browser. You can also use industry opt-out pages such as https://www.aboutads.info/choices and https://optout.networkadvertising.org/ for participating companies, and https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/ if you are in Europe. Browser controls that block third-party cookies will limit what those vendors can store. Opting out of personalized ads does not turn off ads entirely. Google may still show ads that are not personalized, and those ads can still use cookies for frequency, fraud prevention, and measurement. NexTool’s own file tools do not require you to accept ad cookies in order to merge a PDF.
What NexTool stores on this device
The site uses local storage in the browser for a few preferences: the theme, the language you picked, the optional AI base URL, API key, and model name, and whether anonymous usage statistics are off. Those values stay on the device. The API key is not sent to NexTool. If you use an optional AI feature, the browser sends the request you started to the base URL you entered. That provider, not NexTool, receives the prompt or the image. Read that provider’s policy before you send private material. Local OCR, local PDF work, and local image export do not use the API setting.
Anonymous usage statistics, when they are on, record that a tool was opened or that a control was used. They do not record file names, file contents, the text you typed into a tool, or the words of a document. They do not use a cookie. They are not sent if the browser’s Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal is on, if you switch statistics off in Settings, or if the page is not the production site. The request goes to this site’s /api/usage endpoint and is used to see which tools are used. You can turn statistics off without turning off the tools. The switch is in Settings, next to the API fields.
The site is a general-audience collection of tools. It is not directed at children under 13, and it should not be used to submit a child’s personal information to an AI provider. NexTool does not sell your documents. It does not sell a list of customers, because it does not have accounts. Third-party advertising is Google’s service, described above, and is not a sale of your files by NexTool. Questions about this policy can be sent to ads@nextool.org. Please do not attach confidential files to that message.
